Ramblers Swept in Regular Season Finale

Loyola Chicago finished No. 2 in the league.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- No. 9 Loyola Chicago was swept by No. 7 Ball State in straight sets on Saturday, April 11 on the Cardinals' home court. The Ramblers finished the regular season 18-7 overall and 12-4 in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) play; they finish No. 2 in the league.

Grad student Josh Schellinger once again led the Ramblers offense, finishing with 13 kills on .429 hitting while junior outside Daniel Fabikovic matched his career-high nine digs to leag defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers lost the first set 25-22 despite a strong showing on the attacking side, putting together a .370 attack percentage with 14 kills.

SET 2 | A 25-20 second-set loss put Loyola in a 2-0 hole. The Ramblers recorded 14 kills, but could not defend the Cardinals' efficient attacking.

SET 3 | Ball State completed the sweep, hitting a staggering .727 in the frame. Numerous service and attack errors did not help Loyola's efforts to bounce back, falling 25-16 in the final set.

Game Notes

  • Redshirt junior Bryce Robbins had a team-high one ace in the loss.
  • Loyola attackers were helped by a match-high 33 assists from senior setter Ryan McElligott.
  • McElligott and junior middle Aidan Klein each had three blocks at the net.
