ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- Loyola Chicago cross country finished first in the men's and women's races at the Lewis Early Bird on Friday, Sept. 5. The Ramblers outran the nationally ranked Lewis Flyers (M - 10th, W - 11th USTFCCCA DII National Poll) on their home course.
All five Rambler women crossed the 4,000 meter finish line in succession: True freshman Tessa Russo (15:37.0), sophomore Kenzie Willard (15:38.1), second-year
Frances Perry (15:44.1), redshirt freshman
Natalya Kuchenbuch (15:46.1) and rookie
Nicole Golebiowski (15:46.8). Russo, Willard, Kuchenbuch and Golebiowski each made their cross country debuts in the Maroon and Gold.
On the men's side, junior
Keegan Baluja (19:52.9) paced the Ramblers in the 6,000 meter race, coming in second overall, while junior
River Santiago (19:53.1) rounded out the top three finishers. Sophomore
Dylan Ybarra (19:53.4) claimed fourth, and seniors
James Howell (20:18.1),
Aidan Collins (20:18.3) and
Trent Anderson (20:54.7) finished fourth, seventh, eighth and 17th, respectively.
The Ramblers return to competition at the 47th Annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Friday, Sept. 25.
