A Chicago native, Emanuel Dildy is set for his third season on the bench as an assistant coach at Loyola University Chicago. Dildy works with the program’s guards while playing a major role in recruiting, scouting and player development.
In two seasons, Dildy has helped develop Milton Doyle, who was the 2014 MVC Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, while also working with Devon Turk, who became Loyola’s all-time leading three-point shooter as a junior. On the recruiting trail, Dildy has helped Loyola keep some prime Chicago talent at home and, under his watch, Donte Ingram became Loyola’s first recruit from Simeon since Tim Bankston (1986)
Dildy came to Loyola after spending the 2012-13 season as an assistant coach on Jay Spoonhour’s staff at Eastern Illinois. That season, he helped forward Sherman Blanford earn Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team honors after putting up 10.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest for the Panthers. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Dildy served as the head coach at Kennedy-King College for two seasons (2010-12), compiling a 35-27 record, and guided the program to an appearance in the NJCAA Region IV Tournament championship game.
After his playing days at Eastern Illinois, where he averaged 15.3 ppg as a senior in 2004-05, Dildy embarked on a professional playing career that featured stops in Germany and in the IBL. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Kennedy-King in 2008.
