Kesha Watson is set to begin her first season as an assistant coach for the Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team. A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., Watson will also serve as the team's recruiting coordinator.
"I am thrilled to welcome Kesha to our Rambler family," head coach Sheryl Swoopes commented. "She is a young, up and coming coach in our field and will bring a lot of fun, exciting new things to the program. Kesha spent this past season as an assistant coach at Garden City Community College and did a great job with on court coaching as well as recruiting. She will be our Recruiting Coordinator as well as working with our guard development. She is young, hard-working, passionate and very knowledgeable about the game. I could not be any more excited about adding her to our coaching staff and am looing forward to watching her grow and develop as a coach."
Watson arrives in Rogers Park following a season at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kan. Prior to her time with the Busters, she spent a year at Montana Tech University. Watson also gained experience on the AAU level, coaching in her hometown of Oklahoma City for three years.
During her decorated playing career, Watson starred at NAIA powerhouse Oklahoma City University where she helped the Stars compile a 142-7 record en route to a pair of NAIA titles, appearing in the national championship game in each of her four years in Oklahoma's state capital. Watson, a member of the Oklahoma City University Hall of Fame, wrapped up her career with a standout senior season, averaging 24.1 points per game as she repeated as the NAIA Player of the Year. Prior to joining the coaching ranks, she played professionally in both the United States and abroad.
