Kayla Peterson joined the Loyola Chicago communications staff as the Director of Athletics Communications in March of 2023 and was elevated to Assistant Athletic Director of Communications in December 2023. She currently oversees men's basketball, women's soccer, and cross country/track & field.
Peterson served in two roles at the University of Nebraska Omaha prior to her start with the Ramblers. Most recently at Omaha, Peterson held the role of Assistant Athletic Director of Communications. She oversaw both the men's and women's soccer teams, men's basketball, men's and women's swimming, and softball. Peterson oversaw two full-time assistants, as well as student and game day staff.
Before taking over as Assistant AD, Peterson served as an Assistant Director of Communications. While in this role, she also served as a contact for volleyball, hockey, women's basketball, and baseball.
Prior to Omaha, Peterson served as an Assistant Director of Athletics Media Relations at Gannon University. With the Golden Knights, Peterson oversaw soccer, water polo, women's basketball, and softball. Her duties outside of sports information included photography, graphic design, and video production for the department.
From 2017-19, Peterson completed a two-year stint at Eastern Illinois University as an Athletics Media Relations Graduate Assistant. At EIU, she was responsible for the men's soccer, women's basketball, and softball programs. Peterson assisted with football and men's basketball sports information tasks, and also assisted the operations staff with set up and tear down of all home events.
Peterson kicked off her communications career with a two-year internship with the Chicago Sky as a Communications and Media Relations Intern. While with the Sky, she helped with all aspects of game day communication duties and worked on a campaign resulting in two players selected as WNBA All-Stars.
The Crystal Lake, Illinois native earned her bachelor's degree in communications from Bradley University in 2016. She completed her master's degree in communications from Eastern Illinois in 2019.
