CHICAGO -
Majak Kou will miss Loyola University Chicago's season-opener Friday against Princeton while serving a one-game suspension for an NCAA rules violation while playing in a summer league game.
Kou, a Preseason Second Team All-Horizon League selection, did not complete the necessary process to obtain clearance to play in a Chicago summer league that was sanctioned by the NCAA.
A senior guard, Kou averaged 12.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks per game in 2005-06 to help Loyola to a 19-11 record, the program's best showing since 1984-85.
Kou will be eligible when Loyola plays its second-round game at the Sports Time Ohio Black Coaches Association Classic Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.
