MACOMB, Ill. - Lucy McGovern, playing in only her second meet as a collegian, posted a 36-hole score of 155 (78-77), including a five-over-par 77 today, to help Loyola University Chicago to a third-place showing at the Western Illinois Autumn Invitational, which concluded this afternoon at Henry Mussatto Golf Course. The Ramblers, who recorded a team score of 644, a mere six strokes behind second-place finisher Northern Illinois, edged the host Westerwinds by one stroke. Bradley claimed the title with a 620.
McGovern finished only three strokes off the pace and was consistent in both rounds of the tournament to lead the Ramblers. Senior Rachael Sinnen placed 14th with a 162 (81-81), junior Michelle Puch (84-80) landed 16th with a 164 and sophomore Kaitlin Kearney tied for 17th (87-78) with a 165. Kearney's round of 78 today is her lowest of the fall. Freshman Jaclyn Zembrodt, in her first appearance as a Rambler, carded a 179 (85-94) and fellow rookie Megan Sujack posted a 172 (87-85).
Loyola is idle until it competes at the NIU Huskie Classic, Oct. 1-2 in Huntley, Ill.
