PADUCAH, Ky. – Loyola Chicago women's golf cruised to a fourth-place finish in a field of 16 teams at the Velvet Classic in Kentucky Tuesday afternoon. The Ramblers scored 914 (316-292-306) and posted their second round under 300 this season.
"Overall, I'm really happy with our performance this week," said head coach
Brandy Johnston. "A fourth-place finish in a 16-team field is a strong showing for us. I'm fairly certain our score of four-over par in the second round ranks in the top-five all-time for 18-hole rounds in the record books, which is a great accomplishment. The course and conditions were really tough - to have two players under-par in the second round round, plus three personal bests is a testament to the talent we have on our roster this season."
Grace Hui claimed her first top-10 finish of the year, taking ninth on the leaderboards. She scored 225 (79-70-76). Hui's second-round score of 70 marks a new career-low for the sophomore.
Hui had the third most birdies in the event with nine.
Teagan Connors landed in the top-20, placing 17
th. She put together a three-round score of 228 (77-71-80). After the first two rounds, Connors sat in third with a season-low of 71 in round two.
