AVON, Ind. - Freshman Lucy McGovern continued her solid play to help lead Loyola University Chicago to a fourth-place showing at the 36-hole Butler Spring Invitational, which concluded today at Prestwick Country Club. The Ramblers recorded a team score of 662 to finish ahead of defending Horizon League champion Butler (667) and conference mate Cleveland State (680). Ball State captured the title with a 637.
McGovern earned her sixth top-five finish of the season, tying for fifth with a 160 (78-82) to finish four shots off the pace. The rookie's opening-round 78 was the second-lowest score of the day yesterday. Fellow freshman Jaclyn Zembrodt turned in an impressive performance, tying for 24th with a 166 (83-83), while Kaitlin Kearney finished 29th with a 168 (83-85).
Michelle Puch (89-82) and Rachael Sinnen (88-83) tied for 30th with identical scores of 171 to round out the Loyola lineup.
The Ramblers are off until they host the Loyola Invitational at Pine Meadow Golf Course in Libertyville, Ill., April 16-17.
