CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago men's golf coach Adam Kwiatkoski announced today the signing of Dylan Gergen of Saint Paul, Minn., to a National Letter of Intent. Gergen will join the Ramblers for the 2007-08 season and will vie for a spot in a talented lineup that features plenty of depth.
"Dylan is a great fit for the dynamic of our program," Kwiatkoski said. "He played on the Minnesota state champion hockey team and is a great all-around athlete."
Also a solid student at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in the Twin Cities, Gergen owned a 77 average in 2006 and was a Suburban East All-Conference selection. He shot a 155 (76-79) to place 33rd at the Minnesota state tournament in 2006 and also finished fourth at the Minnesota State Junior Boys Championship with a 147 (73-74).
A member of the Minnesota state hockey championship team, Gergen owned a 75 scoring average in 2006 American Junior Golf Association play and placed 30th at the Midwest Junior Players Championship with a 231 (78-82-71).
Loyola competes at the Horizon League Championships, April 30-May 1 in Lebanon, Ohio. Last season, the Ramblers posted their best-ever Horizon League Championship finish, tying for third place.
