CHICAGO – Head coach
Peter Pougnet announced the signing of six new Ramblers on National Signing Day. It marks his first signing class at Loyola. The signees include four from the states and two international athletes.
"This class replaces a lot with the five seniors leaving," said Pougnet. "Those five gave a lot to Loyola. I'm excited to watch these six freshmen next year be coachable and develop to continue to grow our program in the right direction. They all have tools to take their games even further in our environment. They are great fits for Loyola and want to work hard and take pride in our university."
Cole Beto | Rockford, Ill.
Beto is a letterwinner out of Boylan Catholic. In the summer of 2025, Beto held a scoring average of 72.1. He tied seventh at the DuPage County Junior Classic and took 18
th place at the 2025 Medinah Shrine Invitational. Beto had three top three finishes in MAJGT. He's also a four-time All-Conference selection, a two-time conference champion, a three-time regional champion, and two-time sectional champion.
Pougnet on Beto: "Cole is a gritty competitor that has continually gotten better. I love that he will bring a toughness and determination to our team as we continue to build this program. Cole is super coachable and wants to work hard to be the best he can be."
Andrew Chan | Hong Kong, China
Chan has played competitively in both the U.S. and Asia. He qualified for the US Junior Amateur and was selected for Uswing Mojing Junior Worlds. In 2025, Chan posted six top-10 finishes in Asian competitions. He was selected for the APGC Junior Championships and finished top-15. He also tied for third for the Hong Kong Close and Mid-Amateur Championship.
Pougnet on Chan: "Andrew has had success all around the world. He's a consistent ball striker who made his way into the US Junior Am this year. He will have to learn how to make the adjustment to different golf courses, but I am excited about what he brings to our team."
Alex Lee | Northbrook, Ill.
Lee is a letterwinner out of Glenbrook North. His nine-hole scoring average stands at 33.2 and his 18-hole average is 70.2. He was named the 2025-26, 2024-25, and 2023-24 Glenbrook North MVP.
Pougnet on Lee: "When I first got here to Loyola, Alex was one of the first names I looked at in the area to go and recruit. He can make a ton of birdies and has a ton of physical gifts and talent. He's going to bring a lot of value to our program from the start."
Cori Lee | Buffalo Grove, Ill.
Lee is a letterwinner out of Buffalo Grove. Lee posted a scoring average of 72.2 as a senior, while averaging 35.7 over nine holes. He is a four-time All-Conference selection and named the Mid-Suburban League Player of the Year as a senior. He is a two-time IHSA State Qualifier. His brother, Dori, is on the current Rambler golf squad.
Pougnet on Lee: "Cori has developed maybe the most in the last year or so. His game continues to get better and with his brother, Dori, on the current team, he knows what to expect and what it takes to be successful at this level."
Yago Lopez | La Coruna, Spain
Lopez competed in both the US and on international soil. He holds a 73.3 scoring average over his last 30 rounds of action. He took third at the AJGA Ratliff Ranch Odessa, 14
th in the U18 National Championship. Lopez has a first-place finish in the U18 Galician State Championship and two in the U16 Galician State Championship. He also played the R&A Boys Amateur Championship with the Spanish National Team.
Pougnet on Lopez: "Yago is a proven winner with winning as much as he has in Spain. His ball striking is very good. In the right environment, he can continue to build and add to his game. I'm excited to watch him continue to work hard."
Michael Washburne | Alpharetta, Ga.
Washburne is a letterwinner out of Lambert in Georgia. In 2025, he held a 73.5 scoring average. Washburne ranked 165
th on JGS class of 2026. He earned AJGA Rolex Scholastic All-American honors and was tabbed an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Pougnet on Washburne: "Being able to get Michael from Georgia was big for the program. He is a hard worker that was ranked just outside the top 100 for his class. He has competed at a high level against some very good players and has really good experience."
