Box Score
SAN DIEGO - Ellen Kresl went 2 for 3, but Loyola University Chicago (3-9) managed only three hits in a 12-1 loss to No. 17/21 San Diego State tonight at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Ramblers have now suffered four of their losses to nationally ranked teams.
Neither team was able to get much going at the plate in the first two innings, but the Aztecs showed why they are a nationally ranked squad by erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the third. Tonye McCorkle and Christine Kulick each ripped two-run singles to highlight the big inning for San Diego State. The Aztecs tacked on five more runs in the fourth as Lindsey Marquez and Jessica Camello each drove in a pair of runs with a double.
Loyola got a run back in the top of the fifth when Stephanie Cihlar drew a one-out walk and later scored on Kresl's RBI single, but that was all the offense the Ramblers could muster.
Tomorrow, Loyola continues its spring trip when it visits Cal State Fullerton for a single game beginning at 6 p.m. Pacific.
