GREEN BAY, Wis. - Host Wisconsin-Green Bay (23-3, 15-0 Horizon) shot 55 percent from the field to earn an 88-44 victory over Loyola University Chicago (7-17, 2-12 Horizon) this afternoon at the Kress Events Center. Maggie McCloskey led the Ramblers with nine points.
Loyola erased an early 4-0 deficit and took a 9-8 lead nearly six minutes into the contest thanks to the play of Maggie McCloskey (3 points) and Elyse VanBogaert (6 points), who combined for all of its points in the early going. However, a lay-up by the Phoenix's Kayla Tetschlag at the 13:37 mark of the first half put the hosts back on top for good and sparked a 13-2 run.
A jumper by Shannon Finnegan at the 9:30 mark of the first period brought Loyola within 21-16, but a three-pointer by Green Bay's Rachel Porath would ignite a big, game-changing run that extended midway into the second half.
Loyola shot only 36 percent from the field for the game and was led by McCloskey's nine points, while VanBogaert chipped in eight. Green Bay was led by Tetschlag, who scored 22 points off the bench.
The Ramblers return home this week for Horizon League contest versus Youngstown State (Feb. 26) and Cleveland State (Feb. 28).
