CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Haley Ambrosch drove in four runs and Lauren Arceneaux scored three times to help Loyola University Chicago (3-2) to an 8-2 victory over Dayton (2-7) this morning in their final game at the Islander Invitational. The Ramblers, who scored five runs in the final two innings today, finished the tournament with back-to-back wins over the Flyers and their 3-2 start is the best through five games since opening the 2003 season with a 4-1 record.

Loyola fell behind in the third inning when Katie Jordan hit a two-out triple to score Molly Meyer who had doubled earlier in the frame. The Ramblers did not trail for long, however, as they plated three runs, with the benefit of two hits and a pair of Flyers errors, in the top of the fourth, to take a 3-1 advantage.

Freshman Arceneaux was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, and after moving to second base on a sacrifice by Jenna Grim, promptly stole third and scored on an error by Dayton catcher Courtney Kutsulis. Later in the inning, Ambrosch doubled in Ellen Kresl and Alexandra Trudnich to extend the Ramblers' lead to 3-1.

Dayton got a run back in the bottom of the fifth inning on Meyer's lead-off home run to right field, but Krista Crosson did a masterful job to work her way out of further trouble by getting a strikeout and a groundout to strand Flyers at second and third.

Arceneaux ignited another run-producing inning in the sixth, by leading off with a double. After moving to third base on a sacrifice bunt, Arceneaux scampered home on Trudnich's sacrifice bunt to extend Loyola's lead, and two hitters later, Ambrosch smacked a two-run single as the Ramblers pushed their advantage to 6-2.

Loyola added to its lead in the seventh inning when Arceneaux tripled home Stephanie Cihlar, who had led off with a single, then scooted home herself on Jenna Grim's sacrifice fly.

Four Ramblers registered multi-hit games, as Arceneaux, Ambrosch, Cihlar and Kresl tallied two hits each. Solava earned her second win of the year by pitching 5.0 innings of relief.

Loyola is back in action March 4 when it travels to Central Florida.
