DAYTON- Despite Willie Koss' first career goal, the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team drew even against Wright State on Friday evening, tying the Raiders 1-1 on the road in Dayton, Ohio.
Loyola moves to 2-5-2 (2-0-1) on the 2010 campaign. Wright State is now 4-4-1 (0-0-1) this fall.
Koss gave the visiting Ramblers a 1-0 lead early in the second half, when the senior received a pass from classmate Chris Mills, then fired a shot in the back of the Raider net. The goal was Koss' first ever at Loyola.
The Ramblers held the lead late in the match, until Wright State fought back, tying the game with just four minutes left until the final whistle.
Raider Brian Cothern made the contest 1-1 in the 86th minute, thanks to a shot landing past Loyola goalkeeper Peter McKeown. The tying-goal forced the game into overtime.
The teams battled it out in the extra frames, but neither was successful finding a score on eight combined shots. Loyola managed five in the final overtime.
As the final horn sounded, the game ended deadlocked at 1-1.
Koss led the Ramblers with a goal on two shots. James Howe attempted a career-high six shots against Wright State. In goal, McKeown made four saves.
The men's soccer team will return to Loyola Soccer Park on October 3, when they host Valparaiso. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
