2012 Loyola Invitational Final Results

ALGONQUIN, Ill. - Ann Vrdolyak shot a six-over-par 77 today and finished with a 36-hole score of 151 (74-77) to lead Loyola University Chicago to the team title at the Loyola Invitational at The Golf Club of Illinois. The players braved windy and cool conditions with wind gusts reaching 24 miles per hour, but the Ramblers (654) were able to finish seven shots in front of Valparaiso (661) to earn the team crown.

The brisk conditions were no bother to Vrdolyak all weekend as she was the only player in the four-team field to shoot under 80 in each round en route to her fourth individual title of the season. She easily coasted to the title, finishing 12 shots in front of runner-up Erika Pfaender of Valparaiso (83-80=163).

In addition to Vrdolyak's stellar play, Loyola also received an excellent performance from sophomore April Ohlendorf, who tied for third with a 164 (83-81), and Christy Taugner, who tied for eighth with a 168 (83-85).

Rounding out Loyola's lineup, Carly Schneider tied for 12th with a 173 (84-89) and Alexandra Meyers tied for 17th with a 177 (90-87).

Competing as an individual, Loyola junior Rachel Mayer turned in her finest outing of the season and tied for sixth with a 165 (83-82), shooting a season-best 82 in today's final round. Also seeing action as individuals, Carey Farley tied for 12th with a 173 (87-86) and Ashley Garrison claimed 19th place with a 180 (89-91).

Loyola seeks its first-ever NCAA berth when it competes at the Horizon League Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., April 27-29. The winner of the Horizon League Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
