Box Score | Highlights

CHICAGO - Morgan Reardon led the way with 16 kills and Loyola hit a season-high .400 as a team in a comprehensive 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-18) win over Bradley tonight at Gentile Arena. The win snaps Loyola's (7-11, 3-6 MVC) three-match losing streak while Bradley (0-19, 0-9) remains winless on the year.

"We saw some people getting more comfortable in their different roles tonight," said head coach Chris Muscat. "They are getting a little more familiar with some of the new things that they are being asked to do. Anytime you can hit .400 in a match, you are certainly clicking and in a good groove and we were tonight."

Two Brittany Brown kills helped Loyola score the first five points of the match and the Ramblers never looked back. The second of two Kathleen Vogel aces gave the home team a 10-2 advantage but Bradley scored the next four points to stay within shouting distance. Three consecutive kills from Reardon gave LU a 14-7 lead and Loyola was never really threatened the rest of the way with Brown's fourth kill of the set capping a 25-17 victory. The Ramblers hit an even .500 (14-3-22) in the set with Reardon doing Brown one better with five put-aways in the frame.

The teams were tied 10 different times to get to 12-12 in the second set before Loyola was able to string some points together. A Reardon kill off an over-pass made it 14-12, prompting a Bradley timeout, and Maureen Carls ripped a pair of kills on the other side of the timeout to push the lead to five, 17-12. The Braves were able to answer immediately, scoring five of the next six to force a Ramblers timeout, with the lead down to just one (21-20). Brown came up with two kills out of the timeout and Emily Carr added two more to cap a set-closing, 4-0 run that gave LU a 25-20 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

With the finish line in sight, Loyola used two Brown kills to move out to an early 9-3 lead in the third set. Four Reardon kills throughout the middle stages of the set made it an eight-point lead (15-7) and the Ramblers never stopped pushing, using a Bradley error to wrap up the match with a 25-18 win.

Loyola's .400 hitting percentage was a season high and its highest, single-match effort since slugging away at a .412 efficiency against UT-Martin way back on Sept. 5, 2008.

Reardon set the pace for the Ramblers, notching her fourth consecutive double-double with 16 kills (16-2-31, .452) and 11 digs. She was joined in double figures by Brown (11 kills, 11-2-15, .600). Carls finished with eight kills and Carr added six as Loyola was able to spread the ball around. Kelsey Cave led Bradley with 10 kills.

Loyola has the rest of the weekend off and opens the second half of MVC play next weekend when it heads to Wichita State and Missouri State.
