Final Stats

HANOVER, N.H. - Taylor Manuel posted career-high marks in both points and rebounds but Dartmouth overcame a ten-point deficit in the second half to defeat Loyola, 70-58, in overtime this afternoon at Leede Arena in Hanover, N.H. The Big Green move to 6-5 overall, while the Ramblers slip to 2-8 on the season.

Manuel got her day off to a great start, scoring six of Loyola's first eight points to put the Ramblers in front by six (8-2) with 16:21 to play in the first half. The hosts answered back with seven unanswered points over the next three minutes and change to take their first lead of the game (9-8) at the 12:49 mark of the half.

Taylor Johnson, after being fouled on a three-point attempt, drained three-straight from the charity stripe to put Loyola back in front (13-11) just over a minute later. The redshirt sophomore's free throws ignited an 8-0 Loyola run that put the Ramblers up by seven (18-11) with ten minutes to play in the half. The Big Green refused to go away, battling back to take a 21-20 lead with 6:22 to play after a pair of free throws from Milica Toskovic. A Manuel layup on the next trip down the floor set the Maroon & Gold off on a 10-0 spurt that gave Loyola its largest lead of the half (30-21) at the under four-minute media timeout (3:38). Dartmouth scored six of the half's final eight points to trim the margin to five (32-27) heading into halftime.

The Ramblers finished the half at a notch over 41% (12-29) from the field, while the Big Green fired at a 33% (9-27) clip. Loyola exploited its size advantage over Dartmouth to a tune of an 18-6 lead in points in the paint. Manuel finished with 12 points to lead all scorers in the opening stanza, also grabbing a team-high five rebounds. Lakin Roland closed the half with eight points, hitting on a pair of three-point baskets.

Amber Mixon connected from distance with 42 seconds gone in the second half to pull Dartmouth back to within two (32-30). The two teams would then combine to scoreless for the next 5:44, missing on 13-sraight attempts. Daisy Jordan and Manuel traded free throws before Toskovic knotted the game up at 36-36 with 13:21 to play. Back-to-back old-fashioned three-point plays from Manuel and Courtney Lindfors catapulted the Ramblers back on top (40-34) at the 12:13 mark. A Molly Crosby layup with 8:45 remaining in regulation gave Loyola a ten-point lead (46-36), its largest of the afternoon, with just under nine minutes left.

Finding itself in a double-digit hole in front of its home crowd, Dartmouth slowly chipped away at the Rambler lead, ultimately tying the game up at 51-51 on a Fanni Szabo three pointer with 1:37 to play in the half. Molly Crosby answered back with a pair of pressure packed free throws to edge Loyola back in front (53-51) with 23 seconds left but Jordan put home a second chance opportunity for the Big Green with only 2.8 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

A three from Becca Smith snuck the Ramblers in front by one (56-55) with a little over a minute gone in the extra session after Szabo connected on a mid-range jumper on Dartmouth's first possession. Roland's fourth and final three-point bucket of the afternoon at the 2:37 mark put the Big Green back in the lead (58-56). Following another Roland score that stretched the lead to four, Crosby hit on a pair of free throws to pull the Ramblers back to within a single possession (60-58) but Szabo delivered a dagger to Loyola's comeback hopes when she connected on a long three on Dartmouth's next possession. The Big Green proceeded to salt the game away from the charity stripe en route to their sixth victory of the year.

Manuel finished her career day with 20 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three assists. She was joined in double figures in scoring by Crosby, who chipped in 12 points for the second time in as many games. Roland and Szabo spearheaded the attack for the Big Green, pouring in 23 points and 19 points, respectively.

Loyola will take a ten-day holiday break before returning to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30. City-rival UIC will provide the opposition in a game slated for a 5 p.m. tip-off from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Ill.
