MIVA Release
CHICAGO - For the fifth time this season, Loyola University Chicago outside hitter Thomas Jaeschke has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is Jaeschke's sixth conference honor of the season, as he was also named MIVA Defensive Player of the Week in January.
Jaeschke led the Ramblers in a pair of conference matchups over the weekend, firing 31 total kills while committing only four errors to rack up a .519 hitting percentage. The Wheaton, Ill., native logged a match-high 15 kills in Loyola's sweep of McKendree on Friday night, recording just one error to compile a .609 hitting percentage. Jaeschke also added a service ace, five digs and a solo block in Loyola's victory over the Bearcats. The following night, the junior recorded his sixth double-double of the season in Loyola's sweep of No. 10 Ohio State, tallying a match-high 16 kills and 12 digs. Jaeschke also added a match-high four service aces in the victory.
This is the second straight week that Jaeschke has garnered MIVA Offensive Player of the Week honors, as he and Peter Hutz swept the league awards last week. Overall, the junior has been recognized by the conference six times this season, five times as Offensive Player of the Week and once as Defensive Player of the Week.
Jaeschke and the Ramblers begin postseason play this Friday, hosting Quincy inside Gentile Arena for the MIVA Quarterfinals.
