In Short
Host Northern Iowa hit a blistering .398 (41-6-88) for the match to pick up a 25-9, 25-16, 25-16 victory over a depleted Loyola University Chicago squad at McLeod Center tonight. The Ramblers were playing without a pair of starters who were out due to injury and with the loss Loyola falls to 12-17 overall and 7-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Northern Iowa improves to 20-8 overall and 11-4 in league action.

How It Happened
After Bri Weber opened set one with a kill, Loyola responded with consecutive stops from Jackie Kocken, Quinn Spieker and Morgan Gresham to grab a 3-1 edge. From there though, UNI would rattle off 10 unanswered points to stake claim to an 11-3 lead, and never look back as it hit an unbelievable .591 (13-0-22) in the opening set.

The teams were deadlocked at 7 in the second set when back-to-back Weber kills touched off a 4-0 Northern Iowa run and the Ramblers would never get closer than three points the rest of the way in a 25-16 setback.

Loyola hung tough and in set three found itself trailing just 9-8 after a bad set by Heather Hook cut the Ramblers’ deficit in half. However, Weber once again sparked a big Panther run and this time her kill opened up a string of eight unanswered points that stretched UNI’s advantage to 17-8.

Looking At The Numbers
- Gabi Maciagowski led Loyola with nine kills and no other Rambler had more than three.
- In her first career start, setter and Iowa native Anna Fluent recorded 17 assists, six digs and a pair of kills.
- Bri Weber and Amie Held paced the Panthers with nine kills apiece.

Up Next
The Ramblers visit Drake Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a key match-up to close out the weekend road trip to Iowa.
