In Short...
Host Central Michigan used a 21-4 run in the second quarter to create separation as it defeated the Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team, 95-57, this afternoon at McGuirk Arena in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The Chippewas improve to 5-2 overall with the win, while the Ramblers fall to 0-6.

How It Happened
Kiana Coomber banked home a jumper from just behind the free throw line to halt a game-opening 8-0 run for Central Michigan and make it 8-2 with just under four minutes gone. The Chippewas continued to operate efficiently, upping the margin to 12-2 on a Presley Hudson bucket at the 4:32 mark. Kaitlyn Williams rattled home a three to cut the deficit to 21-10 with 52 seconds remaining. Amani Corley beat the buzzer on the other end of the floor to give Central Michigan a 23-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Another Williams triple pulled the Maroon & Gold to within 12 at 25-13 before a Cassie Breen three seconds after sparked the aforementioned spurt that saw the deficit balloon to 46-17 with 3:02 to play in the first half. Loyola scored the final six points of the opening 20 minutes via baskets from Brandi Segars, Lee Williams and Coomber to cut the Chippewa lead to 46-23 at halftime.

Jewel Cotton's second bucket of the third quarter pushed the margin to 55-25 at the 7:51 mark. A three from Coomber just over a minute later sliced the lead down to 58-30 but Loyola was unable to pull any closer for the remainder of the frame as the hosts took a 76-40 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Kaitlyn Williams connected on three straight shots from beyond the three-point arc to begin the final 10 minutes of regulation, with her third trey of the stretch making it 83-49 with 6:45 remaining. The Ramblers struggled to make a greater dent in the lead before all was said and done though as Central Michigan coasted to a 95-57 win.
