In Short...
Evansville scored four runs in the fourth inning to open the scoring and withstood a seventh-inning Loyola rally as the Ramblers dropped a 5-3 decision to the Aces in the nightcap of a doubleheader at Loyola Softball Park.
What Coach Tylka Said...
"I thought our team battled hard today and gave themselves a chance to win both games. Evansville did a nice job of making the big pitch and getting a big hit when they needed it."
How It Happened
+ Loyola stranded a pair of runners in the first inning and another in the third before Evansville opened the scoring in the fourth
+ The Aces loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batsman before Michel Luckett floated a two-run single to center
+ A double steal later in the inning plated a third and an infield hit with two outs made it 4-0 at the midway point
+ Loyola pulled one back in the bottom of the inning, as Hannah Jenkins drew a four-pitch walk with one out, stole second and came around on a clutch base hit from Kiley Jones
+ Evansville restored its four-run lead with a single run in the top of the fifth and the Ramblers put two on with two outs in the bottom of the fifth before a grounder to short ended the threat
+ The Ramblers mounted one last rally with two outs in the bottom of the seventh
+ Nagel ripped her third hit of the game before Pasquale singled and LaCivita doubled, to make it a 5-2 game
+ A walk to Brooke Wyderski loaded the bases and Jenkins drew a four-pitch walk to make it a 5-3 game and put the winning run on base
+ However, a fly ball to center ended the rally and the game as the Aces earned the doubleheader sweep
Inside The Box Score
+ Loyola outhit Evansville for the second straight game, 8-5, but left nine more runners on base (19 in today's two games)
