Loyola raced out to a 20-point halftime lead and withstood a third-quarter charge to earn a 76-59 win over a Barcelona All-Star team this morning in the opening game of its foreign tour through Spain.

Milton Doyle led three Ramblers in double figures with 22 points while Ben Richardson added 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and five steals

How It Happened
+ It took nearly three minutes for Loyola to get on the board before Audre Jackson scored inside
+ Trailing 5-2, Loyola took control, outscoring the All-Stars 15-1 over the final 6:30 of the quarter
+ Doyle, Richardson and Jackson scored 15 of Loyola's 17 first-quarter points as the Ramblers led 17-6 after one period
+ Another Richardson three-pointer early in the second quarter made it a 23-8 game and back-to-back Barcelona turnovers led to easy baskets for Matt Chastain and Jackson to give the Ramblers a 32-12 lead with 5:17 left in the half
+ The lead ballooned to 24 later in the quarter after a pair of Clayton Custer hoops before LU settled for a 40-20 lead at intermission
+ Doyle opened the third quarter with a three-point play to give Loyola a 43-20 advantage before Barcelona stormed back
+ An offensive put-back capped a 12-4 spurt that cut the deficit to 15 and a four-point play from Xavi Forcada cut the LU lead to just 10 (49-39) with 3:19 left in the quarter
+ Baskets from Doyle and Richardson helped Loyola get its feet back and the Ramblers scored the final five points a 56-41 lead into the final period
+ They carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of the first 15 points to build the lead back to 22 (67-45) and Barcelona would get no closer than the 17-point final margin

+ Doyle was terrific, scoring his game-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free throw line in 25 minutes
+ Richardson finished 6-of-10 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from downtown, for his 16 points and also added six rebounds and five steals
