In Short...
Morgan Reardon smashed 15 kills and Loyola played its best set in the decisive fifth set to hold off Davidson, 3-2 (26-24, 25-19, 15-25, 17-25, 15-5), this morning at the Demon Deacon Invite.

How it Happened
+ After grinding through four sets, Loyola was in rhythm from the outset of the fifth set, scoring 11 of the last 12 points of the match to easily claim the final set
+ Reardon had a kill and two aces while Gabi Maciagowski added two more kills in a 7-0 run that turned a 4-4 deadlock into an 11-4 advantage, with freshman Lauren Stefanski closing out the match moments later with a kill
+ The fifth set was the antithesis of the first four, as Loyola struggled out of the gates in each of the earlier sets
+ Davidson jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the first set before a Quinn Spieker kill, eventually, pulled the Ramblers within a point
+ The Wildcats were able to push the lead back out and earned itself six set points (24-18) after an ace before Loyola responded
+ A service error sent Reardon back to the service line and a ball-handling error erased Davidson's final chance and forged a 24-all tie
+ The Ramblers kept pushing and kills from Spieker and Maciagowski completed the comeback, as LU took the set, 26-24, after scoring the final eight points
+ The second set followed a similar script, as Davidson jumped out to a 9-4 lead before the Ramblers rattled off the next six to take a 10-9 lead of their own
+ Loyola was clinging to a 20-19 lead before finishing strong again, as Reardon notched two kills before Spieker capped off a set-closing, five-point spurt with a solo stuff
+ Davidson opened up a 9-4 lead in the third set as well but there would be no Loyola comeback as the Wildcats extended the match
+ Similar story in the fourth, as the Wildcats led 8-4 and withstood an early Loyola comeback before sending the match to the decisive fifth frame

Inside the Numbers
+ Reardon posted her first double-double of the season, finishing with 15 kills and 11 digs to go with a pair of aces
+ Maciagowski continued her strong, early-season play with 14 kills, eight digs and five blocks while Spieker added 11 kills and 12 digs for her first collegiate double-double
+ Maddy Moser provided the defensive balance, digging a career-high 31 balls at libero while adding 10 assists for double-double of her own while Delilah Wolf gave LU a fourth double-double, posting 32 assists and 11 digs
+ After hitting no better than .146 in any of the first four sets, Loyola hit a sizzling .353 (7-1-17) in the final set
+ This was Loyola's first match this season that did not go exactly four sets
+ The win also gave the Ramblers their first five-set win since knocking off Drake back on Nov. 21, 2014 (team went 0-5 in five-setters last season)
+ This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams
