Loyola Wraps Up Homestand Against Youngstown State On Saturday Afternoon

Ramblers, Penguins to meet for the first time since 2013

CHICAGO (November 17, 2017) -
Loyola closes out a brief two-game homestand on Saturday afternoon when it takes on Youngstown State at 1 p.m. inside Gentile Arena.  The matchup against the Penguins is the first of a back-to-back against former Horizon League opponents for the Ramblers.
 
Series Stuff
  • Loyola and Youngstown State will meet for the 28th time on Saturday afternoon in a series that dates back to the 2002 season.
  • The Ramblers hold a 21-6 edge in the all-time series and have prevailed in 11 of the last 13 meetings.
  • Saturday's contest marks the first meeting between the two former league rivals since a 72-45 Loyola win in the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament back on March 15, 2013.
  • Since moving to the Missouri Valley Conference prior to the start of the 2013-14 season, Loyola is 1-3 (.250) in four meetings against current members of its former league.
 
Power To The Penguins
  • Like Loyola, Youngstown State enter Saturday's contest in search of its first win of the 2017-18 season.
  • The Penguins are coming off a 55-44 home setback to Kent State this past Tuesday at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio. Indiya Benjamin scored a team-high 12 points in the defeat.
  • Benjamin currently leads Youngstown State with 12.0 points per game, with Sarah Cash hot on her heels at 11.0 points per game.
