Loyola Preps For Clash With No. 23/20 Marquette

Jesuit rivals to meet in afternoon matinee

CHICAGO (November 27, 2017) –
Following a week-long hiatus from competition, Loyola will return to action on Tuesday when it takes on No. 23/20 Marquette.  Tip-off from inside the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee, Wis. is slated for 11:30 a.m.
 
Series Stuff
  • Loyola and Marquette will meet for the 18th time on Tuesday afternoon in Milwaukee.
  • Marquette holds a 9-8 edge in the series between the two Jesuit institutions. The Golden Eagles have prevailed in each of the last six contests.
  • In the most recent meeting between the two teams back on Nov. 17, 2014, Marquette picked up an 86-71 win over the Maroon & Gold at the Al McGuire Center. Taylor Johnson scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Ramblers in the defeat.
 
Fly Eagles Fly 
  • Marquette brings a .500 record of 2-2 into Tuesday's afternoon matinee.
  • The Golden Eagles split a pair of games at the Cancun Challenge last week, falling in double overtime to No. 12/14 Tennessee, 101-99, before bouncing back with an 87-68 win over Montana.
  • Head coach Carolyn Kieger's team boasts a balanced attack that features five players who average in double figures in scoring. That group is highlighted by Allazia Blockton, who leads the team in scoring at 21.0 ppg, a mark that ranks second in the BIG EAST Conference.

Loyola will make the short trip south to the Jones Convocation Center on Friday evening to take on Chicago State in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
