Loyola Closes Out Road Trip On Wednesday Against Northern Illinois

Huskies defeated Ramblers, 90-70, last season in Rogers Park

CHICAGO (December 5, 2017) –
Loyola wraps up a five-game road trip on Wednesday when it takes on in-state rival Northern Illinois. Tip-off from the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Ill. is set for 11 a.m.  

Series Stuff
  • Loyola and Northern Illinois will meet for the 22nd time on Wednesday afternoon as part of a series that dates back to the 1979-80 season. 
  • The Huskies lead the all-time series by a 14-7 margin but the two teams have split the last four matchups.
  • Led by a game-high 21 points from Courtney Woods, Northern Illinois picked up a 90-70 victory over Loyola when the two teams met last season on Nov. 11 in Rogers Park. Tiara Wallace turned in a double-double performance for the Maroon & Gold, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds. 
On The Prowl
  • Northern Illinois, which has been idle for a week, enters today's matinee with a record of 5-2 on the year.
  • In their most recent action, the Huskies jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back, defeating Bradley, 76-52, at the Convocation Center back on Nov. 29. Mikayla Voigt led all scorers with 22 points in the victory.
  • Voight (15.1 ppg) is one of four Huskies to average in double figures in scoring this season. That quartet is led by Courtney Woods (18.6 ppg) and also includes Kelly Smith (15.0 ppg) and Janae Poisson (10.8 ppg).
