In Short
Kiley Jones threw a complete-game three-hitter and struck out a career-best 10 batters and Katie Kasubke drove in four runs to power Loyola University Chicago to a 6-0 victory over Fort Wayne (0-4) this afternoon at the Total Control Sports Invitational. The win bumps the Ramblers’ record to a perfect 5-0 this season, the program’s best start in school history.

How It Happened
Loyola manufactured a run in the first inning when Shannon McGee reached on a one-out single, then proceeded to steal second before Kasubke smacked a single up the middle to bring in the Ramblers’ first run of the day.

Jacquelyn Murphy gave starting pitcher Kiley Jones some breathing room when she crushed a solo home run down the left field line to lead off the second inning and the Ramblers broke the game open in the fourth thanks to Kasubke’s bases-clearing double that knocked home three runs to give Loyola a 5-0 advantage.

The Ramblers tacked on one more run for good measure in the sixth on Alyssa Mannucci’s RBI single that plated McGee to complete the scoring for the day.

Jones was sensational in the circle, scattering three hits, while fanning a career-best 10 hitters. She carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning before yielding a one-out single, then allowed hits in the fifth and sixth innings and she allowed just one runner to reach third base on the day.

A Look At The Numbers
- Kasubke went 2-for-2 with four RBI and along with McGee, she has hit safely in each of the Ramblers’ first five games of the year.
- The top of Loyola’s ordering inflicted plenty of damage on Mastodons starter Olivia White, as the top three hitters went a combined 6-for-10 with three runs scored and four RBI.
- Amber Davis had two hits to lead Fort Wayne.
- Erica Nagel and McGee tallied two hit apiece for the Ramblers.

Up Next
Loyola is off until February 24 when it opens play at the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational in Madeira Beach, Fla.
