In Short
Kiley Jones scattered four hits and pitched a complete game as Loyola University Chicago outlasted Alabama State (3-11), 5-1, in 12 innings today at Barbara Williams Softball Complex. The Ramblers stay unbeaten in 2017 and move to 12-0 overall thanks to a four-run 12th inning that featured a two-run double off the bat of Brooke Wilson.

How It Happened
Alabama State drew first blood, scoring a run in the bottom of the first on a RBI fielder’s choice to grab a 1-0 advantage. However, Loyola would strike back in the third inning to tie the game. Katie Kasubke reached on a one-out single and moved to second on a wild pitch. After Alyssa Mannucci was hit by a pitch, Ashley Parenti stroked a single to right center, scoring Kasubke, to even the score at 1-1.

Both teams squandered several scoring opportunities and the game would stay deadlocked at 1 until the 12th inning. Playing under the international tiebreaker rule, Shannon McGee began the inning on second base and after Kasubke was hit by a pitch and Mannucci reached on an infield hit, Parenti reached on an error to give Loyola a 2-1 lead. The Ramblers would tack on insurance runs on a run-scoring single from Jamie O’Brien and a two-run double off the bat of Brooke Wilson to bust open a 5-1 lead.

Sophomore right-hander Kiley Jones was sensational, going the distance and allowing only four hits and no earned runs, while striking out five, en route to her sixth win of the season.

A Look At The Numbers
- O’Brien went 3-for-5 to lead a Loyola offense that banged out 11 hits.
- Erica Nagel, Kasubke and Mannucci tallied two hits apiece.
