Elle Van Grinsven tallied a team-high six kills, but No. 15 Purdue (10-1) hit a blistering .443 (44-9-79) to knock off Loyola University Chicago, 25-13, 25-17, 25-11 in the final match of the Stacey Clark Classic this afternoon at Holloway Gymnasium. The Ramblers slip to 1-10 on the season with the loss.
How It Happened
Purdue darted out to a 10-3 lead in the opening set and never looked back en route to a 25-13 victory. The Boilermakers hit a sizzling .609 (16-2-23) in the set to earn the win.
After falling behind 18-8 in the second set, Loyola made an impressive comeback, as
Gabi Maciagowski ignited a 5-0 run with a kill. That spurt brought the Ramblers within 18-13, but they would get no closer than five points the remainder of the set.
The Boilermakers removed all doubt in set three, sprinting out to a 10-1 lead and Loyola was unable to get any closer than eight points the rest of the way as Purdue collected a 25-11 victory.
A Look At The Numbers
- Maciagowski and Olivia Whittingham recorded five kills apiece to support the Rambler attack.
- Azariah Stahl led the Boilermakers with 13 kills and finished with a .722 (13-0-18) hitting percentage.
