Loyola vs. Milwaukee Boxscore (PDF)
CHICAGO (September 2, 2017)
In Short
Hot-hitting Milwaukee (5-2) hit .354 as a team to earn a 25-14, 25-11, 25-16 victory over host Loyola University Chicago this evening in a Rambler Challenge match at Gentile Arena. The loss drops the Ramblers to 0-5 on the season.
How It Happened
Milwaukee sprinted out to a 6-1 lead in the opening set and held off a Loyola rally midway through before pulling away for a 25-14 victory. The Ramblers were unable to get on track offensively in the opener, totaling 10 kills and 10 errors.
In a near carbon copy of set one, the Panthers stormed out of the gate to grab a 6-1 advantage and never looked back en route to a 25-11 win. Milwaukee was nearly unstoppable, hitting .423 (14-3-26) in the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Loyola trailed 9-7 early in the third set, but fought back to grab a 10-9 lead thanks to kills from
Heather Kocken and
Morgan Gresham along with an
Alex Nunez service ace. That lead would be short-lived, however, as Milwaukee answered right back with five unanswered points to seize a 14-10 edge on the way to a 25-16 victory.
A Look At The Numbers
- Gresham led Loyola in kills for the second straight match, totaling nine stops to go with six digs.
- Gabi Maciagowski, who missed Friday night's match due to an injury, returned to the court and provided eight kills.
- Jess Kalous led Milwaukee with 12 kills.
