CHICAGO (January 31, 2018) – Fresh off a convincing victory over Evansville on Sunday, Loyola University Chicago begins its second swing through Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend with a two-game road trip through Central Illinois.  The Maroon & Gold will visit Normal, Ill. on Friday at 7 p.m. to take on Illinois State, ahead of a 1 p.m. Super Bowl Sunday matinee against Bradley.

Birdwatching
  • Illinois State enters the weekend on a three-game skid that has seen its record slip to 8-12 on the year. The Redbirds hold an identical 2-7 mark in Valley play to that of the Ramblers.
  • The Redbirds will be looking to bounce back from defeats to Drake, 65-58, and Northern Iowa, 58-36, last weekend.
  • First-year head coach Kristin Gillespie's team is led by the pairing of Hannah Green and Simone Goods. Green averages a team-high 13.6 points per game, while Goods leads the team in rebounding, collecting 6.6 caroms per game, to go along with 11.8 ppg.

Bravehearted
  • Bradley sits at the .500 mark with a  mark of 10-10 that includes a 4-5 ledger in Missouri Valley Conference play.
  • Like Illinois State, Bradley dropped games to both Northern Iowa, 51-40, and Drake, 84-75, at Renaissance Coliseum.
  • Gabi Haack currently leads the way for head coach Andrea Gorski. Haack leads the team in scoring (9.5 points per game) and ranks behind only Chelsea Brackmann (6.3 rpg) in rebounding, bringing down six boards per game.  Haack has raised her game to another level during conference action, pouring in a team-high 11.9 ppg during MVC play.

Up Next
  • Loyola opens up a season-long three-game homestand next Sunday (February 11) when it welcomes MVC newcomer Valparaiso to Gentile Arena for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
