CHICAGO (October 17, 2018) -
Loyola returns home for the first time in three weeks when it hosts Indiana State and Evansville this weekend. The Ramblers, who have dropped four of their last five contests at Gentile Arena after opening the year with four straight wins, will attempt to put an end to a five-match losing streak, their longest slide of the year. Loyola snapped a three-match losing streak to Indiana State when it knocked off the Sycamores in Terre Haute last month, but the Ramblers have dropped the last two meetings with ISU at Gentile Arena. Meanwhile, Loyola has prevailed in six of the last seven matchups with Evansville overall and has captured seven of the last nine meetings with the Purple Aces in Rogers Park.

Scouting Indiana State

Indiana State got off to a 7-5 start but since then has dropped eight of its last nine matches, all in Missouri Valley Conference play, winning just four sets in those eight setbacks. The Sycamores are also only 1-8 in true road contests this season, with the lone win coming at Purdue Fort Wayne August 24.

Six Sycamores have racked up over 100 kills, led by senior outside hitter Laura Gross with 239 (3.06 per set), who also contributes 3.87 digs and 0.47 blocks per set. Junior middle blocker Damadj Johnson leads Indiana State and ranks second in The Valley with 1.22 blocks per set.

Scouting Evansville

After weathering an eight-match losing streak, Evansville has split its last four contests and is coming off a sweep of Indiana State last Saturday. The Purple Aces have lost nine straight road contests in Valley play since a five-set victory at Loyola on October 13, 2017.

Junior outside hitter Rachel Tam ranks second in the MVC with a whopping 4.52 kills per set and has accounted for nearly 40 percent of the Aces' kills this season.
