No. 23 Washington Proves Too Much for Loyola on Thursday Night

In Short…
Loyola finishes the regular season with a 2-0 road loss to Washington. The Ramblers look to regroup and prepare for their showing in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament semi-finals that begins on Nov. 9.

How It Happened
Washington notched a quick goal in the 17th minute to insert themselves into the driver's seat. Rambler goalkeeper Josh Lagudah made a nice play to get a piece of the ball off a corner kick, but was unable to clear it out of harms' way and Washington converted on the rebound.

Already up 1-0, the Huskies doubled the score in the 24th minute on a Dylan Teves shot that found the far corner of the net to make it 2-0. Things settled down for the remainder of the half while Lagudah registered his first save of the night in the 44th minute – a stop that for all intents and purposes wrapped up the opening stanza.

The Ramblers buckled down defensively and stood tall through a handful of Huskies' corners and shot attempts early in the second frame. Mixed in there was Lagudah picking up his second save of the night in the 68th minute to ink his sixth multi-save performance.

Aidan Megally's 87th minute shot began a spree of chances for the Ramblers late in the match. The Park Ridge, Ill. native sent a shot high on a play that developed from a Lasinski corner. Later on, Lasinski sent a nice feed to set up a Chase Wright header, but UW goalkeeper Bryce Logan made the stop on the Wright attempt.

Lagudah increased his save total to three on a late chance from the Huskies. A well-timed dive on a semi-breakaway from Teves streaking down the sideline prevented Washington from adding another late goal. Despite the late-game stellar play on both ends of the field, Washington withstood the late push and took the match, 2-0.

A Look At The Numbers
-Josh Lagudah compiled three saves to eclipse the 30-save mark in the regular season. He will enter postseason play with 32 to his credit.
-Aidan Megally posted a shot on Thursday and has recorded at least one in five straight matches – his longest stretch since Oct. 14-Nov. 8 of last season.
-The Maroon and Gold finish regular season non-conference play at a 6-5 clip while out-shooting opponents 121-98 in the 11 matches.
-Loyola finished the regular season with three players in a tie for the team lead in points (7).

Up Next
Loyola is off until Nov. 9 when the squad plays in the semifinals of the 2018 MVC Tournament down in Evansville, Ind. The Ramblers await the verdict of being the No. 1 of No. 2 seed based off the result of the Missouri State-Central Arkansas match on Saturday night (Nov. 3).
