Jesuit Rivals Loyola, Boston College Meet In Fort Myers Tip-Off Championship Game

Ramblers look to improve to 10-1 in MTE's over the last three seasons

FORT MYERS, Fla. (November 20, 2018) - 
Loyola, which has prevailed in 25 of its last 28 contests dating back to last season, go for the tournament title of the Fort Myers Tip-Off when they take on Boston College Wednesday night. The Ramblers have won 12 of their last 14 contests played at neutral sites and are 10-1 in such games since the start of the 2017-18 season with the lone setback coming at the hands of Michigan at the Final Four. Loyola has fared well against Power 5 conference foes over the last two seasons, going 5-2 against such opponents, with wins over Washington State, Florida, Miami, Tennessee and Kansas State.

Loyola – Boston College – The Series

Jesuit rivals Loyola and Boston College are meeting for the first time. Loyola is 11-41 (.212) all-time versus current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, but upended Miami, 64-62, in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA tournament in Dallas. Prior to that, the Ramblers' last victory over a current ACC foe came on January 24, 1994, when they bettered Notre Dame, 70-58.

Scouting Boston College

Boston College bounced back from a 76-69 loss to IUPUI by recording an 88-76 victory over Wyoming Monday night behind 38 points from Ky Bowman.

Bowman, a 6-foot-1 junior guard, is one of the most prolific scorers in the nation and averages 24.3 ppg, while also pitching in 7.3 rpg and 3.0 apg, hitting 51.6 percent (33-for-64) of his field goal tries.

Assistant coaches Scott Spinelli and Bill Wuczynski served as assistant coaches on Larry Farmer's staff at Loyola in the early 2000s.
