LAST TIME OUT

LOYOLA – WESTERN MICHIGAN – THE SERIES
Loyola and Purdue Fort Wayne are set to battle for the ninth time on Monday evening in Kalamazoo. The Broncos have picked up victories in six of the previous eight meetings as part of a series that dates back to a 76-75 Western Michigan victory on December 27, 1990 in Chicago. In the matchup between the two teams last season inside Gentile Arena, Western Michigan used an 11-0 first-quarter run to build an early cushion en route to a 65-47 victory over Loyola. Rice led the Maroon & Gold in the defeat with 11 points.Â
BUCKING BRONCOS
Western Michigan snapped a three-game skid this past Wednesday as it earned a 64-53 win over Eastern Kentucky at University Arena. The victory brought the Broncos within a game of the .500 mark on the year at 2-3 overall. Coming off an 18-15 season in 2017-18, Western Michigan was picked to finish sixth in the West Division in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The pairing of Leighah-Amori Wool and Deja Wimby leads the way for seventh-year head coach Shane Clipfell and company. Wool averages team-best marks in both scoring (13.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg), while Wimby, who missed the Broncos' first two games of the season, sits second in scoring at 10.7 ppg.Â
