CHICAGO (February 14, 2018) – Loyola University Chicago closes out a season-long three-game homestand this coming weekend when it hosts a pair of teams that reside in the top half of the Missouri Valley Conference standings.  Missouri State will visit Rogers Park on Friday evening at 7 p.m., before a 1 p.m. Sunday matinee against Southern Illinois.  Sunday's contest against the Salukis will serve as Loyola's Play4Kay game in support of raising awareness for women's cancer and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Don't Sleep On These Bears
  • Missouri State currently sits second in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with an impressive league mark of 10-3 as part of a 14-10 overall record.
  • The Lady Bears swept a pair of home games last weekend, downing Bradley, 74-54, and Illinois State, 75-58, in Springfield, Mo.
  • Preseason MVC Player of the Year Liza Fruendt, who poured in 29 points in the Lady Bears win over the Ramblers earlier this season, paces the attack for head coach Kellie Harper's team.  Fruendt averages an MVC-best 16.4 points per game while shooting at just under a 39 percent clip from the field. Aubrey Buckley leads the Missouri State roster in rebounding, pulling in 5.9 caroms per game.

Attack Dogs
  • Southern Illinois has suffered defeats in three of its last four games, a stretch that has seen the team's record drop to 13-11 overall and 8-5 in Valley play.
  • The Salukis snapped a three-game skid this past Sunday by picking up a 62-53 victory over Bradley at the SIU Arena.
  • Head coach Cindy Stein's team features four players who average in double figures, led by Nicole Martin and her 11.9 points per game.  Kylie Giebelhausen (11.6 ppg), Makenzie Silvey (10.3 ppg) and Abby Brockmeyer (10.1 ppg) round out the quartet, with Brockmeyer leading the team in rebounding (7.2 rpg).

Up Next
  • Loyola heads out on the road for the final time in the 2017-18 regular season next weekend.
  • The Ramblers will take off on a two-game Indiana road swing that features tilts against Evansville (February 23) and Indiana State (February 25).
