Kiley Jones improves her record to 4-0 on the season with a three-hit shutout, and
Ashley Parenti went 2-2 and drove in two runs as Loyola University Chicago moved to 4-2 on the season with an 8-0 victory over Alabama A&M. This is their third win in a row with the last two coming as shutouts.
How It Happened
Loyola got on the board in the second inning when
Allyson Ivey walked, then advanced to third on a
Jamie O'Brien single. Ivey later came around to score on a dropped pop up.
Ashley Parenti stepped to the plate and knocked in her first run of the day, driving in O'Brien, with a single past the shortstop.
The Ramblers notched another run when they returned to the plate in their half of the third.
Katie Polaski reached on an error and advanced on a
Katie Kasubke single. Polaski came around to score on a
Jordyn Cordell single.
The offensive onslaught continued as Loyola put up three more runs on four hits in the fourth. After a lead-off walk by
Emily Borg,
Shannon McGee singled to left.
Caitlin Engelking, pinch running for Borg, scored on a throwing error that allowed McGee to advance all the way to third. Polaski then launched an RBI double to left field, driving in McGee, and scored on a double by Ivey, extending the Ramblers lead to 6-0.
Loyola's final two runs came during the bottom of the fifth when Parenti tallied her second RBI, scoring O'Brien who had reached base on a fielder's choice. The scoring concluded when O'Brien crossed the plate following a wild pitch.
A Look At The Numbers
- Jones was strong in the circle again only allowing three hits over five innings with four strikeouts.
- Eight Ramblers contributed hits in a strong offensive outing with 2-hit performances from both Jordyn Cordell (.556) and Ashley Parenti.
