Ramblers Roll Past Raiders, 9-1

Wilson drives in three, Jones strikes out five in complete-game win

ROSEMONT, Ill. (February 9, 2018)

In Short
Brooke Wilson drove in three runs and Kiley Jones tossed a complete game to lead Loyola University Chicago (1-1) to a 9-1 decision over former conference mate Wright State (0-2) this afternoon at the Total Control Sports Invitational.

How It Happened
Wright State jumped out to an early lead, scoring a first-inning run on Madison Whitaker's RBI groundout, but Loyola answered right back in the bottom half of the frame when Katie Polaski reached on a ground-rule double, then came around to score on Allyson Ivey's run-scoring single to even the score.

The Ramblers broke the game open in the bottom of the second, hanging six runs on the board to open up a commanding 7-1 lead. Shannon McGee got the offensive barrage started with a RBI single and one batter later, Katie Kasubke would deliver a two-run double before Brooke Wilson cleared the bases with a three-run triple.

Loyola tacked on another run in the fifth on an Emily Borg RBI groundout and Sophia Swain ended the game via run rule in the bottom of the sixth with a ground-rule double to left center.

A Look At The Numbers
  • Jones scattered four hits, striking out five in her first start of the season.
  • McGee and Jordyn Cordell tallied two hits apiece, while Kasubke and McGee both scored a pair of runs.
