In Short
Loyola put together a six-run second inning to erase a two-run deficit and rolled to a 15-5 victory in six innings over Army today at the USF Tournament. The win is the fourth in a row for the Ramblers, their longest of the 2018 season.
Â
How It Happened
Loyola fell behind early as Army scored a pair of runs in the first inning to get out to an early 2-0 lead. After going down in order in the bottom of the first, the Rambler bats awakened in the second inning as Loyola scored six times on five hits to take the lead for good.
Jordyn Cordell delivered the big blow in the inning, lacing a two-run single to left to account for the final two runs of the frame.
Â
The Ramblers stayed hot at the plate and tacked on five more runs for good measure in the bottom half of the third, with
Katie Polaski driving in a pair of runs with a single to center and
Shannon McGee knocking in two more with a double to the gap in left center.
Â
Army cut into the 11-2 deficit with three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Loyola got a run back in the fifth on
Jamie O'Brien's RBI single that scored
Katie Kasubke, who had reached on a one-out single earlier in the inning.
Â
Three Loyola runs in the sixth inning ended the game, with all three tallies coming on a three-run homer by Kasubke.
Â
A Look At The Numbers

- Kasubke went 3-for-5 with three RBI to lead a Rambler barrage that produced 18 hits on the day. Â
