CHICAGO (August 28, 2018) – Loyola University Chicago head men's basketball coach
Porter Moser is one of 10 members of the 2018 Class of the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, it was announced today. Induction ceremonies are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Wintrust Arena.
Joining Moser in this year's class is former Chicago Bears kicker Kevin Butler; 2018 Olympic gold medalist in hockey Kendall Coyne Schofield; Notre Dame women's basketball coach Muffet McGraw; former Chicago Fire coach Frank Klopas; Paralympian Josh Mislewicz; WSCR program director Mitch Rosen; former NFL player Rob Ninkovich; Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson; and Wintrust President and CEO Ed Wehmer, the Chicago Sports Advocate of the Year.
Moser, who is entering his eighth season as the head coach at Loyola, engineered one of the best stories in Chicago basketball history this year, leading the Ramblers to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1985 and a school-record 32 victories. During the month of March, Moser's squad captivated the nation by making a remarkable run to the Final Four, the first for the program since winning the 1963 national championship.
NBC5 Chicago sportscaster Peggy Kusinski will emcee the induction dinner. The event benefits the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame Charities, a 501c3 tax-exempt organization in Illinois honoring those who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to sports. VIP cocktails are from 5:30-6:30 p.m., with dinner and induction ceremonies starting at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the dinner are $225 each, with tables of 10 starting at $2,000. Proceeds will support Special Olympics during its 50
thanniversary in recognition of its birthplace in Chicago and its role in promoting inclusion for all athletes throughout the world.
