Derek Dolenc Invitational Final Results
MADISON, Ill. (September 25, 2018) – Senior
Orion Yamat fired a final-round one-over-par 72 as the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team wrapped up play at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill. today.

The Ramblers recorded a 299 during final-round play at the par-71, 7,092-yard Gateway National Golf Links to finish in 16
th place with a 905 (296-310-299). Host SIUE claimed the team title (283-283-276=842), with the Cougars' Kyle Slattery (71-65-67) taking home medalist honors.

"It was a bit of a disappointing week," Loyola head men's golf coach
Erik Hoops commented. "We never really gained any forward momentum or got putts to drop. It was obviously hard to play with only four guys for the last two rounds but I'm proud of how they kept fighting through an adverse circumstance. We've got some work to do this week to get us back going in the right direction."

Yamat matched his first-round tally today to finish the two-day event with a 54-hole tally of 223 (72-79-72) as he tied for 41
st. Hot on his heels was sophomore
Tyler Anderson, who turned in his best round of the event by carding a two-over-par 73 that elevated him into a tie for 66
th at 228 (76-79-73).

Like Anderson, freshman
Nate Vance posted his top 18-hole score during final-round play, checking in with a 76 to finish as part of a tie for 78
th at 231 (77-78-76). Sophomore
Devin Johnson posted a 78 as he came in alongside Yamat in 41
st with a 223 (71-74-78). Junior
Justin LaFrance did not see action after withdrawing during Monday's second round due to back spasms.

Loyola will head to Des Moines, Iowa next week, Oct. 1-2, for the Zach Johnson Invitational.
