Surging Ramblers Head To Kalamazoo For Weekend Tournament

Loyola has won four straight matches and needs one win to equal its total from all of last season

Game Notes | Live Stats vs. Utah State | Live Stats vs. Western Michigan | Live Stats vs. Canisius

CHICAGO (September 5, 2018) -
Loyola brings a four-match winning streak, its longest since October 2015, into this weekend's Delta Hotel by Marriott Kalamazoo Conference Center Tournament hosted by Western Michigan. The Ramblers, who won only five matches a year ago, are just one victory shy of matching last season's total despite being just two weekends into the 2018 campaign. Loyola rolls into Kalamazoo on just that - a roll. Since dropping set two in an eventual 3-1 victory over McNeese State on August 25, Loyola has reeled off 11 straight set victories, going an impressive 9-0 at last weekend's Hampton Inn Rambler Challenge.

Scouting Utah State

The Aggies head to the Midwest on a four-match losing skid and are coming off of a three-set loss to Utah Valley Tuesday night. Senior middle blocker Lauren O'Brien is hitting .396 (52-12-101) and contributes 2.26 kills and 1.43 blocks per set.

Scouting Western Michigan

After dropping its first two contests of 2018, Western Michigan has run off five consecutive wins, including a sweep of Chicago State in its lone home match of the year. Rachel Bontrager, a sophomore outside hitter, leads the Broncos with 4.30 kills per set, and also pitches in 2.30 digs and 0.56 blocks per set.

Scouting Canisius

Fellow Jesuit program Canisius has stumbled in its last four outings since a 3-1 victory over Binghamton in the season's opening weekend. Middle blocker Leah Simmons (2.55 kills per set) and outside hitter Sara Wesley (2.41 kps) team up for a formidable one-two punch for the Golden Griffins, who are 1-3 on neutral floors this season.

Up Next

Loyola returns home next weekend to host the Chicago Cup, where it will face DePaul, Northwestern and UIC.
