Loyola sophomore guard out 3-to-4 weeks

CHICAGO (January 30, 2019) – Loyola University Chicago sophomore guard Lucas Williamson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) had successful surgery on his right hand this week and will be sidelined for 3-to-4 weeks, head coach Porter Moser announced today. The 6-foot-4 defensive stopper is averaging 8.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game this season.

Williamson initially broke the hand during the Ramblers' game versus Nevada November 27, then was sidelined for eight games before returning to action January 8 at Evansville. He played in four contests, averaging 12.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 2.5 spg in his last two appearances, before reinjuring the hand in Loyola's 75-67 victory at Indiana State January 19, a game in which he totaled 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Loyola (13-8, 6-2 MVC), which holds sole possession of first place in the Missouri Valley Conference race, is back in action tonight when it hosts UNI at 6 p.m.
