Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Loyola Storms Past Valparaiso, 2-0

The Ramblers move to 7-3-1 overall, 3-1-1 MVC

In Short
Ethan Stoneman and Aidan Megally each tallied quick goals for the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team tonight as they defeated Valparaiso, 2-0 at Loyola Soccer Park. The Ramblers move to 7-3-1, (3-1-1 MVC) while Valparaiso drops to 2-8-1, (1-4-0 MVC).

Coach Neil Jones Thoughts
"Tough game, Valpo is always a very tough opponent," Jones said. "A lot of credit to them, they were relentless with their attack, created some great chances and we were able to get a shutout. We're working a lot on training, getting balls wide, serving the ball in and harder runs to the box, just creating more opportunities. The first goal tonight, Ethan Stoneman, just making a run to the box and making a play. Aidan's a great player and a great leader, leading by example and really getting after it this year. He's super dialed in and I couldn't be happier for him."

How It Happened
Loyola took advantage of numerous shot opportunities throughout the game, recording a season-high 10 shots on goal and out-shooting Valpo, 19-6.

In the 37th minute, Billy Hency launched the ball across the box to a sprinting Stoneman. The sophomore was able to get a touch on the ball and flick it in with his heel, right between the legs of Valpo goalkeeper Edvin Holst.

With only one minute gone in the second half, Alex Moskal crossed the ball over to Megally who sent a rocket into the net from nine yards out.

A Look At The Numbers
- Megally leads the MVC in goals this season after scoring his seventh tonight. The senior has found the back of the net five times in the last three games.
- Both teams combined for 32 fouls as well as four yellow cards. Giann Magno and Liam Woehrle each received a card for Loyola.
