Loyola Returns Home For "Field Trip Day With the Ramblers" Matinee With Bowling Green Monday

Over 3,000 local schoolchildren expected to be in attendance

CHICAGO (December 13, 2019) – After taking a week off for final exams, Loyola is back on the Gentile Arena hardwood on Monday at 11 a.m. as it hosts Bowling Green on "Field Trip Day with the Ramblers", with over 3,000 local schoolchildren expected to be in attendance.

Currently receiving votes in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25, the Ramblers carry an unblemished 8-0 record into Monday's tilt with the Falcons and, as of Friday, are one of only 14 teams remaining in Division I with a perfect record.

Four-year Loyola head coach Kate Achter is no stranger to Bowling Green, having enjoyed a stellar playing career with the Falcons that saw her take home All-American honors while leading the team to four straight Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles and three berths in the NCAA Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
Loyola completed a perfect sweep of its road non-conference schedule back on December 8, defeating SIUE by a final count of 63-50 at First Community Arena.  Allison Day fell just two points shy of tying her career high, leading all scorers with 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and a season-best four assists. She was joined in double figures by Abby O'Connor (13 points), Ellie Rice (11 points), and Jala Johnson (10 points).

LOYOLA – BOWLING GREEN – THE SERIES
Monday's matinee will mark the fourth meeting between Loyola and Bowling Green in women's basketball.  The Falcons moved to a perfect 3-0 against the Maroon & Gold last season, picking up an 88-74 win back on November 20, 2018.  Rice paced a group of four Ramblers to reach double figures in scoring with 18 points, while Morgan McMillen poured in a game-high 25 points to lead Bowling Green.  Bowling Green is one of two MAC opponents Loyola will square off against during non-conference play, with a visit from Western Michigan coming on December 30. The Ramblers are 19-35 (.352) against current MAC members.

FALCONS LOOKING TO SOAR
Bowling Green, which battles Milwaukee on Saturday ahead of Monday's tilt with Loyola, resides at 5-3 (.625) on the year following wins over Cal Baptist, 98-60, and Marshall, 82-69, respectively.  Coming off a 9-21 season (2-16 MAC) in 2018-19, second-year head coach Robyn Fralick's team was tabbed to finish sixth in the MAC's East Division.  Reigning MAC Player of the Week Angela Perry, who finished with 24 points in last season's matchup with the Ramblers, leads the way for Bowling Green, averaging 15.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and a 1.6 blocks in eight appearances.  After missing all of last season due to injury, Caterrion Thompson has returned to add 14.9 ppg, while Madisen Parker has established herself as the team's top threat from beyond the three-point arc, operating at a red-hot 51.6 percent (32-62) clip en route to averaging 14.6 points.

UP NEXT
Loyola is back in action inside Gentile Arena on Friday, December 20 as No. 16/15 DePaul makes its way north from Lincoln Park for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
