CHICAGO (January 13, 2020) – Loyola University Chicago men's soccer student-athlete
Aidan Megally was selected by FC Dallas in the fourth round (92
nd overall pick) of the 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Monday afternoon. Megally is the third Rambler in program history to be selected in the MLS SuperDraft and joins former Ramblers Grant Stoneman and Elliot Collier, who were selected in 2019 and 2018, respectively.
"As a program, we couldn't be prouder of Aidan and congratulate FC Dallas on not only drafting an outstanding player, but a great person as well," Loyola head coach
Neil Jones said. "We pride ourselves on recruiting very good players and making them great throughout their time with us. It is so nice to see that MLS teams recognize that future professional players continue to be produced here at Loyola."
Megally enjoyed an outstanding four-year career with the Maroon & Gold, highlighted by a phenomenal senior season. The midfielder was named a 2019 United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American and the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year. The Park Ridge, Ill. native also picked up United Soccer Coaches First Team All-West Region honors and was a two-time MVC Offensive Player of the Week selection this year.
During his time in Rogers Park, Megally appeared in 75 matches and started in 60. He also earned All-MVC Honorable Mention in 2017 and 2018. This season, Megally started in all 20 matches and scored a team-best 10 goals that ranked second in the MVC. He also established the Loyola single-season record for shots with 73.
