CHICAGO (January 22, 2020) – Alexis Meyer (Portland, Ore./Westview), a junior on the Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team, has been highlighted as one of two featured student-athletes in this week's Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight presented by Enterprise Bank & Trust Company.
Meyer has appeared in 10 games off the bench for head coach
Kate Achter's team this season, averaging 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds. The 5-foot-11 guard/forward recorded her first career double-double earlier in the season as part of a 98-53 road win at Chicago State, posting career-high marks in both points (14) and rebounds (10).
In the classroom, Meyer holds a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average as she pursues a double major in Marketing and Management in Loyola's Quinlan School of Business.
Meyer is an active member of the community, primarily serving as the president of Loyola's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). The Portland, Ore. native has joined her teammates at various events around the community as well, including the 34
th Annual Hunger Walk.
To qualify for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20, complete at least one academic year at a Valley institution, and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
