CHICAGO (November 24, 2020) – The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team unveiled the first two dates on its non-conference schedule for the 2020-21 season on Tuesday. Fifth-year head coach
Kate Achter's team finished 15-14 (6-12 MVC) last season, marking the program's first winning campaign since 2012-13.
The Maroon & Gold will raise the curtain on 2020-21 just two days after Thanksgiving, making the trek south to the Jones Convocation Center to battle Chicago State on November 28. Led by 16 points apiece from both
Allison Day and
Anna Brown, Loyola cruised to a 98-53 victory over the Cougars last season, their ninth straight win against their rival to the south.
Following a two-week break from competition, another road tilt with a local foe awaits on December 13, as Loyola will match up against perennial BIG EAST power DePaul. Achter's crew gave the Blue Demons, who checked in at No. 19 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Preseason Top 25 Polls, all they could handle when the two teams met in Rogers Park in 2019, erasing a 14-point first-half deficit before ultimately dropping an 83-76 decision.
More information on the remainder of Loyola's non-conference schedule and a revised Missouri Valley Conference slate will be announced at a later date.
