The Loyola University Chicago softball team fell to Albany, 1-0 before shutting out Detroit Mercy, 6-0 today at The Spring Games in Longwood, Florida. The Ramblers finished 4-2 at the tournament and move to 11-5 this season.

Game 1: Loyola 0, Albany 1 (6)
The offense was quiet during Loyola's game against Albany, with the only scoring play happening in the top of the first inning. The Great Danes hit two singles, with the second one bringing in a runner to score.

Despite the loss, Sydney Ruggles threw six innings of one-run ball against Albany while striking out 10. Jessica Shields also had two hits and two stolen bases, while Shannon McGee also picked up a stolen base.

Game 2: Loyola 6, Detroit Mercy 0
The Ramblers came out swinging against Detroit Mercy, scoring all six of their runs in the top of the first inning. To start the inning, Madison Ebeling hit a single. Following a Shannon McGee walk, Allyson Ivey came up to bat and doubled to score Ebeling. Katie Polaski hammered a two run triple to follow, giving Loyola a 3-0 lead.

Nova Sinskul followed suit, also tripling and scoring Polaski. Caitlin Engelking then doubled to drive in Sinskul. The last scoring play of the inning for the Ramblers was an Emily Borg single to score Engelking. Â
